Hello my name is Coan and I am a Roving Reporter for the week of August 17, 2015. This week we are still trying to get used to getting all our work together and make new friends. This week we were reading about the Inuits and the Kwakiutl. The Inuits hunted caribou and fish. The Kwakiutl built igloos out of snow and ice. We also learned about subjects and predicates. In Math this week we have been learning about fractions, number talks and place value. In Science and Social Studies we have done groups, for example we do exploratory, independent, computer, Mrs. Perryman’s group, and Ms. Wilson’s group.
On Monday our special was Math Lab and we played math games. In Science we learned about ecosystems. In reading we wrote a story. My story is about how me and my dad cut the grass.
On Tuesday our special was Music. We sang “We are American Every Day” I love this song and listen to it at home too! In math we practiced expanded form and went over our math facts. For Reading and Science we read more about the Inuits and the Kwakiutl. We also broke up into groups for some of these subjects.
On Wednesday our special was Computer Lab. We played math games. We ate our snack and went over our math facts and math homework. We did group work too.
On Thursday our special was Writing Lab and we wrote a story about Population and I wrote more on my story about me and my dad cutting grass. We did more classroom group work and went over our homework and math facts. Thursday night we went to Back to school showcase night. We gave our parents a tour of the classroom and showed them what we do in class. Mrs. Perryman showed a video of us working in exploratory.
On Friday our special was P.E. We went over some rules and then played a game…Knock it down. I love P.E. days!!! We did groups for Reading, Math, Science, Social Studies. We went over our math homework. On the announcements in the afternoon they told us to go to the Cafeteria for a special event. They showed us Dr. Tilley and Mrs. Hiers video parachuting. Then they talked about Knights on the Run. We come back to class, signed agendas, packed our bags and heading home for the weekend.
This week was the most fun so far because we got to know our friends better and learn new things in 4th grade than what we learned in 3rd grade. This is going to be an awesome year!
